Concentration:
“Better Skaters make Better Hockey Players”
This camp’s primary focus will be on improving skating stride, edgework, and power skating though repetition & corrective instruction. The best hockey players at any level are the players who have been repetitively trained in edge control and continue fundamental skate training through out their hockey careers.
Core Skills:
- Balance
- Stride Extension
- Stopping & Starting
- Cross-overs, Overspeed Training, Acceleration
- Backward Skating
- Puckhandling & Shooting
Edge Training, which includes stops, starts, turns and transitions, are areas that are hurried through by many programs so that practice ice and be used for game preparation. This is the biggest mistake a youth program can make and it happens every day in every town.
The intended goal for all Select Skill Skaters is to master all fundamental skating skills. This will be done through a series of repetitive drills done at increased speeds throughout the summer. Specialty Camps Camps
